According to a professor at George Mason University in Virginia, an artificial intelligence that was supported financially by the creator of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, was successful in passing a university-level law and economics exam.

Claude is the name given to the artificial intelligence that was developed by the AI safety and research organization Anthropic. Alex Tabarrok made use of Claude in order to complete a law and economics exam.

Alex Tabarrok, an economics professor at George Mason University in Virginia, wrote on the influential Marginal Revolution University blog, which he runs with fellow economist Tyler Cowen, that Claude received a “marginal pass” on a recent law and economics exam at the college. Tabarrok wrote the post. Claude’s grade was described as “marginal.”

Tabarrok stated that the test was assessed blindly and that he believed Claude to be “a rival” and a “upgrade” to OpenAI’s GPT3, the technology that was the basis for the internet sensation ChatGPT.

Tabarrok did point out that the answer had certain flaws, one of which was that it was “mainly opinion,” and that a more adequate response would have included more economic logic.

He went on to say that it was still a credible response and was better compared to many human responses.

Since the release of OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT in November, there has been a significant increase in the number of people interested in AI capabilities. The uncanny ability of ChatGPT to do anything, from writing convincing cover letters to beating 80% of human candidates to an interview, gives it a disturbingly human-like quality.

On November 11, clients withdrew a significant amount of money, which ultimately led to the bankruptcy filings of FTX, Alameda Research, and other associated organizations.

Federal prosecutors have filed eight criminal allegations against Bankman-Fried, including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Bankman-Fried was taken into custody in December. Singh and Ellison, who have both been implicated in the alleged fraudulent actions of Bankman-Fried, have been providing assistance to the authorities investigating
