Computer-Based Testing (CBT)

Computer-Based Testing (CBT) is a popular method of administering exams for professional certification and licensure purposes, including for nurses. It measures competence level of Nurses and midwives. Part one of the Test of Competence(ToC) 2021 is a computer-based test known as CBT. You can sit your CBT or OSCE in any order, but you must successfully complete both parts to continue with your application for initial registration or readmission. The CBT test provider is Pearson Vue with centres across the world.

New CBT is split into two parts; Part A is on numeracy with a total of 15 questions and Part B covers clinical questions for Nursing or midwifery with a total number of 100 questions. The 2 parts cost 83 pounds. However, if its a resit: PART A only: 50 pounds and Part B only: 70 pounds

Review relevant resources and materials: In order to write an effective exam, it is important to review relevant resources and materials, including nursing textbooks, guidelines, and standards.
This will help you identify the key concepts and skills that could be tested in the exam.

Focus on exam questions: Once you have identified the key concepts and skills to be tested, you can begin focusing on exam questions. There are several types of exam questions that can be asked, including multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions. It is important to ensure that the questions are clear, concise, and unbiased.

Review and revise before the exam: Before writing the exam, it is important to review and revise the various past questions and materials to ensure you are well prepared.

Write your exam: Once the preparation is finalized, you can sit the exam using CBT center. Ensure you get to the venue of the exam as early as possible so you can familiarize yourself with the environment
