National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)

The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a standardized exam that is required for individuals who wish to become licensed as registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in the United States.

There are 2 types of NCLEX.
The NCLEX-RN is used for graduates of registered nursing programs, and the NCLEX-PN is used for practical and vocational nursing graduates. The NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN differ in the number of questions you have to answer and the amount of time you have to complete each test. As of 2020. the minimum number of questions for both exams is 75 and the maximum is 145, while the minimum for the NCLEX-PN is 85 and the maximum 205. As for content, both require a basic understanding of nursing practice and knowledge.If you are interested in taking the NCLEX exam, here are the steps you need to follow to register:

Determine your eligibility: The first step in registering for the NCLEX exam is to determine whether you are eligible to take it. To be eligible to take the NCLEX exam, you must have graduated from an accredited nursing program and be endorsed by your nursing regulatory body (NRB).eg The Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Nursing Council of Kenya, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council, etc

Create an NCLEX account: To register for the NCLEX exam, you will need to create an account with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is an independent, not-for-profit organization through which nursing regulatory bodies act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting public health, safety and welfare, including the development of nursing licensure examinations. To create an account, you will need to provide your personal and educational information and pay a registration fee.

Submit an application: Once you have created an NCLEX account, you can submit an application to take the NCLEX exam. You will need to provide information about your nursing program, your NRB endorsement, and any other relevant information. Schedule your exam: After your application has been approved, you will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) from the NCSBN. You will receive your ATT via the email address you provided when registering. You must have your ATT email to schedule an appointment to take the NCLEX. This document will allow you to schedule your NCLEX exam at a testing center near you. You can schedule your exam through the NCLEX website or by contacting the
testing center directly.

Pay the exam fee: In order to take the NCLEX exam, you will need to pay the exam fee. The fee varies depending on your location and the type of nursing license you are seeking.
